MyCEB Gets The Industry Going With a Competition on Organising Future Business Events In the New Norm

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 MAY 2020 – Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia is organizing a competition during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, allowing university students and industry professionals an opportunity to engage in sharing of innovative ideas in organizing future business events or known as MICE, at the comfort of their own home.

Entitled ‘The New Norm in Organising Future Business Events’, the goal of the competition is to encourage participants to submit their thoughts based on a dedicated category and scenario. These ideas or input submissions may include a combination of virtual and onsite events, taking into consideration current situation and outlook on how participants would organize business events or MICE differently in the new norm.

In support of the competition, YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia said “With the current Movement Control Order (MCO), I would encourage individuals or groups to unleash their talents by joining this competition. This platform will also be able to enable individuals or groups who are game-changers to showcase their new explorations and discoveries, sharing insights on various issues concerned in this challenging boundaries and adding value to clients and the industry. Together, we work hand in hand to continuously support all parties involved in the tourism, arts and culture industry.

The competition is covering three categories of business events such as ‘Convention’, ‘Corporate Meeting & Incentive’, and ‘Exhibition’. Participants can enter as individuals or in groups where top three winners will stand a chance to win cash prizes up to RM 3,000 and gifts for each submission category.

“The business events sector is a major economic driver, not only for the country’s economy but also in generating trade, investment and employment. It is important to recognize extraordinary and innovative talents in the business events industry to lift Malaysia’s stature during this trying time. Participants will get to excite their thoughts and enlighten us on how they would organize business events differently in the new norm,” said Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.

For the past 10 years, MyCEB together with its strategic partners have secured 1,255 international business events comprising of international conferences, corporate meetings & incentive and trade exhibition events which contributed an estimated economic impact of RM10.4 billion into Malaysia’s reserves.

The competition will kickstart today, 4 May 2020 and ends on Friday, 15 May 2020 at 12 PM. Final winners will be announced on 2 June 2020. For more information on the competition, kindly visit www.myceb.com.my/competition
