Weaving the Future
of Business Events
Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) is the nation's premier platform for industry leaders, event organisers, associations, venues, suppliers, policymakers and emerging talent to come together, exchange ideas and shape the future of business events.

Pharmacy’s unique contribution to Universal Health Coverage through self-care and Malaysia’s role in building a sustainable system towards 2030
In this keynote, Paul Sinclair, AM, President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), will present the global vision shaping the future of pharmacy under the FIP Strategic Plan 2025–2030. One of the driving forces for pharmacy’s unique contribution to this agenda is through self-care as pillar of prevention for patients and the public globally. By establishing our role in self-care, alongside all other preventative measures- communicable disease, life course immunisation, healthy lifestyles, AMS to minimise AMR, NCD optimisation as well as access to safe, affordable and effective medicines, pharmacy is essential to healthcare globally. He will also provide focus on the initiatives and innovations in pharmacy, including workforce transformation, in Malaysia and plans to launch the FIP Global Declaration on Self-Care at the 85th Global congress of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences in Kuala Lumpur in 2027. The Congress theme is Bridging worlds: Global knowledge, local realities and better care. and the FIP President will showcase how we will strive to work shoulder to shoulder to deliver this and secure Malaysia’s legacy in pharmacy led self-care globally thereafter.

Alvin T.K. Lim
Alvin T.K. Lim
National Para Athlete (Retired)
Vivacious, fun loving, with a terrific sense of adventure, Alvin was in the prime of his life when a
motorcycle accident in 2000 left him paralysed from the waist down. One minute he was jetting all over
the world with Singapore Airlines, and the next he was learning how to use a wheelchair. Always one to defy convention, Alvin built a new career for himself by becoming Malaysia’s first ever wheelchair-bound car sales person.
In an illustrious career that spanned a decade, Alvin achieved impressive sales and developed many strong friendships along the way. He even won the Volkswagen’s 2012/2013 Retail Qualifying World Championships in the Asian category, an event that drew over 40,000 participants across the world. While in the midst of buying a new wheelchair, Alvin spotted a hand-cycle in the shop and took it out for a spin. In a single ride, he rediscovered the thrill of whizzing down the street at breakneck speed with the wind in his face and road surface vibrating through his arms. Alvin was hooked! His new hobby quickly became a passion and his passion turned into purpose. Before he knew it, Alvin was
discovered by the national para cycling coach and offered a place in the national squad. In his first 2 outings representing Malaysia (in competitions in Bahrain and Singapore) he returned home with consecutive Gold Medals. Following that success, he was given the honour of representing Malaysia in the 2017- ASEAN Para Games in September, where he again showed he’s mettle by not winning one but two gold medals. The latest adventure sees him embarking on the sport or archery. A discipline that above all challenges a person’s greatest muscle, the mind. From being a complete beginner to the sport 4 years ago, podium finishes at the national level are now a regular occurrence. Alvin’s story has touched the hearts of thousands and his repeated triumph over adversity continues to inspire people every day.
