Malaysia, The First In Asia To Host Radiodays Asia 2019

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 August 2019: Malaysia is proud to be the first country to host Radiodays Asia (RDA) 2019 in Asia from 27 to 28 August 2019. To be held at the Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur, the Radiodays Europe (RDE) is the leading international conference for radio professional in Europe and worldwide. The conference was introduced in 2010 and has been held annually, rotating to different host cities.
Malaysia will see a congregation of around 500 delegates with estimated economic impact of RM5.4 million to our shore. Supported by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), the event is set strategically in the heart of Kuala Lumpur allowing delegates to enjoy a marvellous incentive experience with better connectivity and greater accessibility. Malaysia has so much to offer; from an array of flavourful Malaysian delicacies at the Jalan Alor to a 5-star sky dining overlooking the city, immerse in the culture of diversity and the friendliness of the locals and luxuriate in the world of first-class shopping malls.

"We are honoured to have Radiodays Asia 2019 for the first time in Asia, and here in Kuala Lumpur. I was informed that RDA planned to hold their event annually in Kuala Lumpur for a three years period, starting next year. By having Radiodays Asia here in our country, this will benefit the radio broadcasters in Malaysia, and offers the opportunity to showcase Malaysia to international audience," said Datuk Zulkefli Hj. Sharif, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.

Themed "Meet the Future of Radio and Audio", Radiodays Asia 2019 will focus on the future on radio and audio businesses, exposing broadcasters in Asia to advanced strategies and ideas to benefit Asian radio and audio businesses with the focus of flourishing its vibrant and diverse radio markets.

Covering perspective for both radio and audio sector, Radiodays Asia 2019 will focus on the challenges and developments of the industry. With a wide selection of top-of-the-line programmes in store, delegates may enjoy series of talk sessions and also a great platform to exchange knowledge related to the radio industry.

The bid was made in 2017 where competitors such as Dubai, Singapore and Sydney were coming in strong. Dubai has shown a very strong marketing support as well as the local radio broadcasters for the event to take place there. Whereas Sydney have their own national radio event which is their added advantage where RDE could leverage on this show and combine it for a bigger event for Asia Pacific. Malaysia won the bid due to our competitive cost and financial support from MyCEB.

MyCEB which falls under the purview of MOTAC together with its strategic partners have secured an impressive record of 1,100 international business events over the last eight years from 2010 to 2018 which have substantially contributed an estimated economic impact of RM8.5 billion to the country and benefited Malaysia’s local businesses and communities.

In addition to that, last year MyCEB has secured 152 future events that had collectively brought more than 162,623 international delegates, translating into an estimated economic impact of RM1.58 billion.

Indeed, Malaysia's position as a business events hub with world-class facilities and infrastructure has made the country a hub for large scale events – and the numbers are only going up. Event such as Radiodays Asia is in line with the Ministry’s aspiration in achieving 30 million tourist arrivals and RM100 billion in tourist receipts.
