Excellent international air access. Award-winning convention facilities. A wide variety of accommodation, economic stability and local experience. Expertise with an international edge. And strategically located between the world's two fastest growing economies, India and China.
It is no wonder that Malaysia is fast emerging as a choice destination for business events in Asia.
Bloomberg ranked Malaysia as the 3rd Best Emerging Market in the world in 2014. And recently, it was declared the '6th Most Price Competitive Country in the World' for Travel 2015 by the World Economic Forum (Travel & Tourism Index).
Business event planners will find that Malaysia offers an exotic range of experiences; lush tropical rainforests, wildlife and island resorts. All amongst a rich blend of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures and the best of Asian hospitality.
High Yield Business Tourism
In the Malaysian Government's national Economic Transformation Programme, business tourism is one of the key industry sectors that can stimulate economic growth over the next ten years.
Statistics show that each international business tourism visitor spends more than three times the average leisure visitor.
In line with the Malaysian government's priority to increase focus on high-yield travelers, MyCEB's objective is to raise international business tourism visitors from 5 percent to 8 percent by 2020. This translates to 2.9 million while continuing to propel Malaysia to be among the top five Asia Pacific countries in the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) by 2020.
The business tourism industry is expected to contribute RM3.9 billion in incremental Gross National Income (GNI) and 16,700 local jobs by 2020.
MyCEB, Malaysia's official business tourism destination marketing organisation, has been charged by the Ministry of Tourism to drive growth and create new business opportunities. The bureau will assist with bids, site inspections, product selection, event planning and promotions.
