A total of 4,500 delegates is expected to be present during the four-day congress following a collaboration bid by MyCEB and MSO at Hong Kong on 11 February 2018. The congress attracts top eye doctors from all over the world to discuss the latest advancements in the field that will greatly benefit the medical section and the general public in Malaysia. 

"We are thrilled to form a strong partnership with MSO to host this engaging and important congress, convening highly-regarded delegates comprising of ophthalmologists, professors, researchers and healthcare practitioners. APAO 2021 is projected to boost Malaysian economy by RM67.9 million in estimated economic impact and maximise Malaysia’s growth potential as a knowledge and creative economy," said Datuk Zulkefli Hj. Sharif, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia. 

"This congress provides an ideal platform for our local experts to gain valuable insights and share best practices from their international counterparts, while at the same time allows us to showcase Malaysia’s credibility as a business events hub and an ideal tourism destination," he further added. 

Bringing together ophthalmologists from around the world, APAO 2021 is committed in fostering co-operation between ophthalmological societies in different countries and collaborating with other international or regional organisations with similar aims.
